Testing the hydraulic booster flow
The booster flow test is rarely offered by , just the hydrostatic pressure test.
This test replicates firefighting efforts made by the Fire Brigade at the designated water pressures and flows.
The goal is hydrant service and testing every five years
This test demonstrates the Fire Brigade Booster Assembly’s ability to support firefighting operations along with the related on-site pump bypass, valves, and piping. It confirms that there are no obstacles or limitations in the system that can limit the water flow or pressure that is available to the hydrants. The fire brigade booster pumps water to the farthest hydrant from a source of hydraulic supply. This test is important because pipes and valves can corrode or deteriorate internally over time, which can cause them to seize or get clogged. The hydrant booster system may consequently fail.
